Upward Bound Seeks New Recruits for College Preparedness Program

The Genesee Community College chapter of Upward Bound invites students and parents to attend Recruitment Night on Wednesday, March 17th, 7:00 -8:00 PM at the Upward Bound office at 38 Duncan Street, Suite 2, in Warsaw, New York. The evening event is part of a week-long effort to mobilize the next class of Upward Bound students during the annual Recruitment Week, which runs March 15th through March 19th this year. Eighth and ninth grade students from Attica, Letchworth, Perry, and Warsaw central school systems are encouraged to attend Recruitment Night and explore the many programs and possibilities that can lead to rewarding college experiences. Upward Bound is a federally funded program that provides advisement, tutoring, mentoring, and college preparation experiences for promising high school students who might not otherwise pursue an education. The program works closely with the parents of the students enrolled in the program. Currently, funding for the program is limited to Wyoming County.

Upward Bound is also holding its second Euchre Tournament this year on Friday, March 19, 2004 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the United Church of Warsaw, 22 South Main Street at the intersection of Routes 19 and 20A. Similar to February's successful Euchre Tournament, the cost is $10 per person which includes cash prizes for the three top scores and light refreshments.
