Maxine A. Koberg - Employee of the Month
Maxine Koberg has been chosen as Employee of the Month for both the quality of her contributions to Genesee Community College, as well as the longevity of her excellent service. She began her career at Genesee's original campus that was located on West Main Street in an old retail facility, and she has been instrumental in the smooth transition to the College's current and permanent home. Over the years, Maxine has made an enormous contribution to the ongoing effort of improving the library's automated management systems and she has persisted in expanding her skills and her knowledge base. With the most recent implementation of the Aleph system, Maxine mastered yet another new set of skills and helped ensure a smooth transition for circulation, cataloging and reporting. In her dedication to remain abreast of all new systems, Maxine has become the "go to" person at the Alfred C. O'Connell Library, not only for her fellow colleagues, but for students as well. She graduated from Batavia High School, resides in Elba, and has two children.
Kristina Marchese - Student of the Month
Kristina Marchese is February's Student of the Month, acknowledging not only her accomplishments as a student at Genesee Community College but also her activities in the local community. She is enrolled in the Liberal Arts program at Genesee, a member of the Honor's program and Phi Theta Kappa, the College's Honor Society. Kristina is a Senator for the Student Government Association, and she is a member of the Genesee Community College Association. Her voluntary service for the College's Adaptive Physical Education program has led to part-time position, and she also volunteers for the annual Red Cross Blood Drive. Kristina served as a counselor for a summer day camp at the YMCA, and she has been a volunteer candy striper. Kristina graduated from Elba High School in 2003 and she resides in Batavia.
