Genesee Community College's Board of Trustees appointed 382 area residents to 25 college advisory councils for the 2004 year yesterday evening.
Advisory councils help provide guidance to academic programs, Genesee's five campus centers, and assist in the oversight of grants. Members of the councils offer advice to faculty and staff members on curriculum development, internships, and workforce needs. Members of each advisory council are working professionals with first-hand knowledge of their industries or fields.
The Board appointed members to these advisory councils: Athletics, Physical Education, and Sport Management; The BEST Center; Business Administration/Accounting; College Tech Prep; Communications/Media Arts; Computer Technology; Criminal Justice; Digital Art; Drafting; Genesee Community College at Arcade; Genesee Community College at Dansville; Genesee Community College at Lakeville; Genesee Community College at Orleans; Genesee Community College at Warsaw; Human Services; LIFE, Liberty Partnership (Life Increases Future Experiences); Nursing; Office Technology; Occupational Therapy Assistant; Paralegal; Perkins III Grant; Physical Therapist Assistant; Respiratory Care; Retail and Fashion Merchandise Management; and Tourism.
Advisory councils help the College ensure that students are well prepared for their careers once they graduate, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Claudia Moore told the Board of Trustees.
