Student Art Show and Reception at Orleans Campus

Genesee Community College at the Orleans County campus is pleased to announce a Student Art Exhibit on display from Wednesday, December 3rd through Wednesday, December 17th, 2003. The show features the art work of students who are currently enrolled in the College's Fall 2003 painting and drawing class. The exhibit, which includes work in various media and styles, is located in the central lobby of the College's Orleans County campus at 456 West Avenue, Albion. The exhibit is open to the public and an Artists' Opening Reception is scheduled for Wednesday, December 3rd from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the adjacent Student Lounge. Reservations are not required to attend the Opening Reception.

The Fall Art Exhibit will include paintings of various water-based media and different artistic styles from this semester's art students who are enrolled in Art 114 - a painting class taught by instructor Dennis Wood. The class is scheduled on Wednesday evenings and is held in Genesee's Orleans Campus Center in Albion, New York. The following seventeen students, who range in age from young adults to senior citizens, are taking the course:

"This semester we have a dynamic blend of students who are painting in a wide-range of styles and techniques, which should make a very interesting show," Wood said. "The students are excited about having their work viewed by the public." Wood also teaches art classes to detainees at the Buffalo Federal Detention Facility in Batavia, NY.

The exhibit will also be able to be viewed on the Internet at Genesee Community College's website, in January 2004. For more information, please call the Albion Campus directly at 585-589-4936.
