Arts and Letters Luncheon Features Orleans County Architecture

Childs, New York- The ongoing and popular luncheon series sponsored by Genesee Community College at Orleans continues with its final lecture for 2003 on Friday, November 21, 2003, 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Tillman's Village Inn in Childs, NY. The topic for this event is "Architecture Destroyed in Orleans County" and features Bill Lattin, Orleans County Historian for 24 years and a key member of the Cobblestone Museum.

The photo presentation will reveal numerous elegant residences that once graced South Main Street in Albion, and many other unique structures and buildings from the surrounding communities that have long since been destroyed. The program will illustrate the result of some development efforts that sadly did not appreciate Victorian aesthetics nor understand the importance of preserving local heritage.

The luncheon lecture costs just $23 and three different luncheon entrees are available. Advanced reservations are required by calling the College at 585-589-4936 or e-mail All registrants are also added to the mailing list for the announcements of future luncheons. Plans for the next series of Arts and Letters luncheons in spring 2004 are already in progress with topics including lighthouses on the Seaway Trail, gardening, and the story of how four generations of local legendary women achieved their independence.
