Holley Student Honored at Genesee Community College

Jonathon E. Klatt of Holley has been named October Student of the Month at Genesee Community College. Mr. Klatt is a second-year student pursuing a degree in Theatre Arts.Mr. Klatt was selected for the honor because of his contributions to the College's Theatre Arts program and his involvement in a wide variety of arts activities, according to Marcia K. Morrison, Director of Fine and Performing Arts. The honoree participated in last fall's National Circus Project - whose members were artists in residence at Genesee - and so impressed the Project's managers that they offered him a paid position. Mr. Klatt spent the last summer working with Circus Project. He also helped build body puppets for Children's Theatre and held major roles in the College's Forum Players' productions, including The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. He holds the lead in this fall's production of Scapino. Aside from his academic achievements and theatre involvement, he is the drummer in Oblivious, a well-known local band. He works at Clarendon Cheesecakes and has arranged for the company to donate a cheesecake every month for a Forum Players fund raising project."Jonathon is an accomplished student and a great theatre enthusiast," Ms. Morrison said. "His involvement and energy inspires everyone around him, and he motivates others toward excellence."
