Genesee's Wentland Selected to Chair New York State Association of Trustees

Genesee Community College Trustee Melvin J. Wentland has been selected as New York State Chair of the Association of Community College Trustees, an organization comprised of members of governing boards of community colleges across the nation.

As New York State Chair, Dr. Wentland will represent the interests of New York State community college trustees to the national organization. He will also communicate information about ACT programs and initiatives to New York State trustees.

Community colleges in New York State, like almost all community colleges, are governed by volunteer boards of trustees. These boards are responsible for college policies, budgeting, and general oversight of programs.

Dr. Wentland has served as a Genesee Community College trustee since 1991. He currently serves as Vice Chair of Genesee's Board of Trustees, and has previously served as Chair. He is a professor of Biology at St. John Fisher College, and a resident of Pavilion
