SUNY Chancellor King to be Commencement Speaker at Genesee on Sunday, May 18

Genesee Community College's 2003 Spring Commencement ceremonies take place at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 18. More than 2,000 guests are expected to honor 700+ Genesee graduates.

Of special note this year:

• State University of New York Chancellor Robert L. King-the chief executive officer of the state university system-will be the 2003 Commencement Speaker. Chancellor King will be available to reporters at noon.

• Genesee will confer its first honorary doctoral degree-Doctor of Humane Letters-to Alexander resident Charlotte W. Conable. This is a rare occurrence for community colleges; Genesee has been specially authorized to confer this honorary egree by the State University of New York Board of Trustees.

• This year Genesee celebrates its 35th annual commencement ceremony, and will onor it's 15,000th graduate.

• Special arrangements have been made for reporters to meet with several notable raduates at 12:30 p.m. in the President's Conference room at the college.
