Corporate Sponsors Announced for Genesee's 22nd Annual Student Fashion Show-City Chic-on Saturday, April 26

Nine corporate sponsors have been announced for this year's student Fashion Show-City Chic-at Genesee Community College. The College's 22nd annual Fashion Show, presented by the College's Fashion Merchandising students, is on Saturday, April 26, at 7:00 p.m. in the Batavia Campus' William W. Stuart Forum. These major corporate sponsors supply clothing and other materials in support of the show. They include: David's Bridal (Southtown Plaza), Deb (Marketplace Mall), Fashion Bug (Batavia), Galyans (Walden Galleria Mall), Harley-Davidson (Batavia), Hot Topic (Walden Galleria Mall), Stein Mart (West Seneca), Wal-Mart (Batavia), and Zip-Tor (Batavia). Mark McPherson, Batavia Wal-Mart Manager, has also recently presented a $1,000 check to the College's Fashion Merchandising students in support of the show.

The fashion show will present the hottest colors and trends from local and regional stores. From sportswear to career wear, from custom, hand-made garments to formal and bridal wear, from children's styles to teen styles to club styles-there is something for everyone. The show will be followed by refreshments and entertainment from the Joe Santora Trio.

Genesee's annual Student Fashion Show is one of the largest fashion shows in Western New York, as more than 600 guests are expected to attend. Advance tickets for the fashion show will be $5, or $7 at the door. Early reservations may be made by calling 345-6830.

"This is a very elaborate, professionally staged show," says M. Richard Dudkowski, Professor of Fashion Merchandising Management. "Students have to handle everything from budgetary arrangements to staging. It's wonderful practice for these students, who will soon be filling responsible positions in many different retail and sales organizations throughout New York State and beyond."

Twenty-one fashion students are involved in producing, choreographing, and promoting this year's show. They include area residents as well as students from other parts of the state and abroad, according to Professor Dudkowski.
