When: Thursday, March 9, 2017, 12:30 p.m.
Where: Genesee Community College Aquatics Center
One College Road, Batavia, NY 14020
The tradition of the annual Ducky Derby at Genesee Community College has reached its ninth year and on Thursday, March 9, 2017, you can be the lucky duck! Organized by the GCC Business Forum Club, the derby raises money for the United Way of Genesee County and last year’s efforts donated more than $2,300. Over the years, the annual Ducky Derby has collectively raised more than $10,000 for the United Way.
Students involved in the event are currently selling numbered ducks around campus, which will be released in competition, with a little help from members of the College swimming, diving, cheerleading and dance teams in the GCC Aquatics Center pool on March 9 at 12:30 p.m. Ducks are available for purchase for as little as $1 and up to $5. The first duck that “swims” across the pool will win a percentage of the prize pool based on the cost of the duck. Additional prizes will be awarded to subsequent ducks including fun gift certificates, themed baskets, T-shirts and much more.
