Batavia, NY- From ceramics to wood, flowers to animals, a variety of images in different mediums will be on display during the Fine Arts Student Exhibition Making Our Mark in the Rosalie “Roz” Steiner Art Gallery on the Batavia Campus of Genesee Community College. The exhibit opened yesterday, Monday, March 7, 2016 and two artists’ receptions are scheduled on Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 12:30 – 2 p.m. and 5 – 7:00 p.m.
Student works for this exhibit are selected by GCC Fine Arts instructors who choose pieces that represent high achievement in a particular medium. The exhibit features works from students in drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, two-dimensional and three-dimensional design.
“As our students master the many techniques of creating quality art, we also teach them the value of exhibiting their work in a professional capacity,” Moi Dugan associate professor of Ceramics and 3-Dimensional Design said. Along with her colleagues Heather Jones, associate professor of Fine Arts and Joe Ziolkowski, instructor of Photography, they spend a considerable amount of time selecting the pieces and ensuring the work is the caliber for a professional exhibit. “This annual student show consistently reflects not only the variety of courses we offer at GCC, but the talent of our students,” Dugan said. “We hope the community will be as impressed as we are by the work our students are creating and accomplishing.”
The exhibit will be on display in the state of the art Roz Steiner Art Gallery through April 6, 2016. GCC is located just a short drive off the NY state thruway Exit 48 at One College Road, Batavia, NY.
