Women's Volleyball Tops Monroe

The Lady Cougars traveled to Monroe Community College last night where they defeated the Lady Tribunes with scores of 25-20, 25-20, 25-20. Leading Genesee was freshmen Deliane Lessard with 13 kills and Kristie Barger with 13 digs.

The Lady Cougars traveled to Monroe Community College last night where they defeated the Lady Tribunes with scores of 25-20, 25-20, 25-20. Leading Genesee were freshmen Deliane Lessard with 13 kills and Kristie Barger with 13 digs. Also contributing in the win was sophomore captain Mikela Caseria who had 23 assists and Shelly Fuller with 16 assists.

The team will be back in action this weekend at the Hagerstown Community College Tournament!

Lady Cougars Volleyball Takes Down Jamestown

The women's volleyball team defeated Jamestown this weekend with scores of 25-23, 25-10, 25-18. Leading the way for the Lady Cougars were Paige Tilert, Mikela Caseria and Shelly Fuller. Tilert had an amazing day with 12 digs, 9 perfect passes and 5 kills while Caseria and Fuller combined for 21 assists.

The women’s volleyball team defeated Jamestown this weekend with scores of 25-23, 25-10, 25-18. Leading the way for the Lady Cougars were Paige Tilert, Mikela Caseria and Shelly Fuller. Genesee now has an overall record of 24-6 and is next to play at home against Finger Lakes Community College on Tuesday October 5th at 7:00pm.

Volleyball Goes 5-0 at Kaminna Allen Tournament

The Lady Cougars Volleyball team dominated the hardwoods this weekend at their home Kaminna Allen Tournament with a 5-0 record.  The team had a few big wins over St. Clair Community College, Hagerstown Community College and The Community College of Rhode Island.

The Lady Cougars Volleyball team dominated the hardwoods this weekend at their home Kaminna Allen Tournament with a 5-0 record.  The team had a few big wins over St. Clair Community College, Hagerstown Community College and The Community College of Rhode Island.  The team was led by Dawn Dodd with 32 kills, Sarah Ward who contributed 25 kills and 40 digs, and Paige Tilert who had 76 digs and 10 aces.  All three of these athletes were also named to the All Tournament team for their stellar play. 

The team is next to play at home against Monroe Community College at 6:00pm.

Women's Volleyball has Successful Weekend

This past weekend the Lady Cougars traveled to Mentor, Ohio where they played in the Shannon Lee McBride Tournament. The Lady Cougars went undefeated on Friday and finished the pool play seeded first.

The Lady Cougars went undefeated on Friday and finished the pool play seeded first. Genesee defeated rival Lorain CC in the semi-finals and won 25-18, 25-19. In the championship game the Lady Cougars fell to Lake Michigan 25-20, 16-25, 14-16 in a heartfelt battle. Sophomores Mikela Caseria and Michelle Fuller were named to the All Tournament Team for GCC.

Volleyball Wins Six Straight

This past weekend the Lady Cougars of GCC traveled to Edison, PA to play in the Volleyball Extravaganza Tournament hosted by Lackawanna Community College. The Cougars were undefeated winning against six different teams.

The Cougars were undefeated winning against six different teams. Paige Tilert of Derby, NY led the Cougars with a Triple-Double. Austin Bishop from Toronto, Canada led the lady cougars with 37 kills while Tilert added 29 kills. Tilert also added 13 aces and 64 digs in GCCs wins. Sarah Ward of Rochester, NY also had 28 kills while Shelly Fuller added 12 aces.

Genesee played a hard match versus Mercyhurst NE to win in 5 very close games. The scores were 25-12 , 25-20, 24-26, 25-27, 15-12 in the Cougars favor, to win in a gut wrenching fifth game. Leading the way for the Cougars was outside hitter Sarah Ward from Rochester, NY with 12 kills, 22 digs and 2 aces.

Voleyball Wins Over Alfred State

The Lady Cougars (4-4 overall record) won a heartfelt battle between Alfred State this past Tuesday.  Despite falling the first game to Alfred 17-25, the cougars rallied back to win the last three 25-19, 25-18, 25-17.

The Lady Cougars (4-4 overall record) won a heartfelt battle between Alfred State this past Tuesday.  Despite falling the first game to Alfred 17-25, the cougars rallied back to win the last three 25-19, 25-18, 25-17.  Dawn Dodd of Indiana led the cougars with 10 kills and 2 blocks.  Sarah Ward of Rochester, NY was second with 9 kills and 18 digs against Alfred.  Mikela Caseria had 24 assists in the win.  Paige Tilert of Derby, NY also contributed to the cougars win with 18 digs.  GCC’s next match is Thursday September 9th versus Mercyhurst Northeast (4-5 overall record).

Women's Volleyball Fall 2010 Season Preview

The Genesee Women's Volleyball Team is looking forward to another riveting season. Bringing in athletes from all over the world, Coach Majeski feels that this season will bring many new feats as the fall progresses.

The Genesee Women’s Volleyball Team is looking forward to another riveting season. Bringing in athletes from all over the world, Coach Majeski feels that this season will bring many new feats as the fall progresses. The team is looking to be very young as they are made up of only two returning players and thirteen newcomers. Although the age may not portray the talent that this team possesses, they have been ranked 13th in the nation for the preseason poll. They will be looking towards some of the incoming players to step up and have immediate leadership roles.

The Genesee Community College Volleyball team wrapped up their 2009 campaign with an overall record of 20-22. The Lady Cougars played a tough schedule and battled through some ups and downs on their way to capturing the Region III Division II Championship, placing second at the District Tournament, placing second at the WNYAC Tournament, and finishing fourth at the Hagerstown Tournament. Genesee finished 5-1 vs. conference foes and 4-0 in regional play.

The GCC Volleyball team fell to Monroe College of the Bronx in five games at the District Tournament to end their season; scores were 25-22, 22-25, 19-25, 26-24, 17-15. The Lady Cougars came out of the losers' bracket and would have had to defeat Monroe twice to advance to the National Championships.
