The following Genesee student-athletes have earned Region III Academic All-Region honors. To be recieve the honor the student-athletes must have completed a minimum 45 credit hours and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.50 or better. Way to go Cougars!!
On Friday evening Genesee Community College held its annual Awards Banquet to honor the contributions and achievements of its students. Below are the student-athletes who were honored for their excellence in athletics and physical education.

The Women’s Volleyball will be Wisconsin bound on Tuesday November 16, to play in the 2010 NJCAA National Volleyball Tournament. Genesee earned their bid to the national tournament by winning the District L tournament this past Sunday the 7th. In the championship match Genesee defeated Monroe College of the Bronx in a best three out of five games match. Genesee won the match in three straight games, with scores of 25-19, 25-11, and 25-20.
The women’s volleyball team will be hosting the NJCAA Volleyball Division II District L Tournament this Saturday and Sunday Novmeber 6 & 7, 2010. The tournament will feature host, Genesee CC, Monroe College of the Bronx, and Harcum CC. The tournament will be round robin on the first day with the top two teams from the first day’s play advancing to a championship match on Sunday.
The Women’s Volleyball team wrapped up there 2010 season at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament; held at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin November 18-20. On the season the team finished with an overall record of 37-10; going an impressive 4-0 in region and 14-0 in conference play.
The women's volleyball team was defeated by Iowa Lakes Community College in the first round of the 2010 NJCAA Division II National Championship Tournament. Iowa defeated Genesee in three games with scores of 25-14, 25-22, and 25-12.
The Women’s Volleyball will be Wisconsin bound on Tuesday November 16, to play in the 2010 NJCAA National Volleyball Tournament. GCC defeated Monroe College (Bronx) in the District L Championships to advance. The championship match was a best of three out of five games match. GCC won the match in three straight games, with scores of 25-19, 25-11, and 25-20.
The Women's Volleyball team will host Monroe College (Bronx) Sunday November 7, at 11:00 for the District L Championship. Both teams defeated Harcum College in Round Robin play on Saturday to advance to the championship match. The championship match is a 3 out of 5 game format going up to 25 points per game. The winner of the match will advance to NJCAA National Tournament.
The Women’s Volleyball team hosted Mercyhurst NE in the Region III, Division II Championship finals on Tuesday night. Genesee won the title beating Mercyhurst in three with scores of 25-13, 25-14, and 25-10. Genesee (34-8) got off to a good start with Mikela Caseria's (Mililani, HI) crisp serving and 12 assists. Genesee also got good production from Sarah Ward (Rochester, NY) producing 14 kills and five digs. While Maria Antsupova (Ozersk, Russia) and Kristie Barger (Lima, NY) took control of the first two games with eight kills/two aces and 14 digs respectfully.
Genesee Volleyball remains undefeated in Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) play (13-0) as the team won the WNYAC championships this weekend. Genesee defeated Niagara County Community College in the semi-finals 25-21, 26-24, and 25-19. They then faced Monroe Community College in the championship match; defeating Monroe in three games with scores of 25-20, 25-16, and 25-20.
