Hansen Signs Letter of Intent at Wilmington University

Dana Hansen (Hilton, NY) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Wilmington University (DE) women’s soccer program beginning this fall.
Hansen, a two-year contributor at forward for the Genesee Community College women’s soccer team, scored a team-leading 13 goals last season and amassed 34 points during her sophomore campaign. She was an All-Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) Second Team selection as a freshman and a First Team All-Region III and All-Conference selection as a sophomore.

Potter Named Women's Soccer All-American

Genesee Community College freshman goalkeeper Maddie Potter (Oakfield, NY), was recently named a National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Women’ Soccer All-American for the 2013 season. She was named to the All-American Second Team.
Potter started in goal in 15 games. She allowed an average of just 0.94 goals per game and amassed a record of 12-2-1. She recorded seven shutout wins and had a save percentage that was better than 85%. Potter was a member of the All-Region First team and All-Conference First Team this season as well.

Reyngoudt named WNYAC Coach of the Year

In his first season as the head coach of the Genesee Community College women’s soccer program, Jeff Reyngoudt has been named the 2013 Western New York Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.
Reyngoudt took over the program last offseason after a 5-12-1 record in 2012 and led Genesee to a 13-4-1 season this year, the first winning record and the highest win total since 2010. They Lady Cougars were 6-1 in conference play this season.

Lady Cougars hold on in Region III Semi's

Hosting a regional playoff game for the first time since 2010, the Genesee Community College women's soccer team made the most of home field advantage on Tuesday night and defeated visiting Hudson Valley Community College, 2-1.

As the top seed in the west, Genesee earned a first round bye and welcomed #4 Hudson Valley CC out of the east to town after the Lady Vikings defeated Jamestown Community College in the opening round of the Region III playoffs on Saturday.

Neither team made good on any first half chances and both teams went into the half scoreless.

Women's Soccer top seed in Regional Tournament

After putting together a regular season record of 12 wins, three losses and one tie, the Genesee Community College women’s soccer team heads into the postseason as the number one seed in the West Region for the 2013 Region 3 Division 3 Women’s Soccer Championships.
Ranked as high as number 7 in the NJCAA National Poll this season, Genesee earned wins over three top-ten teams (Tompkins-Cortland Community College, Anne Arundel Community College and Finger Lakes Community College) this fall.

Makowski's hat-trick propels Lady Cougars

Ashley Makowski scored a hat-trick on Wednesday night to help the Genesee Community College women's soccer team to a 5-3 victory over visiting Jamestown Community College, extending GCC's winning streak to nine in a row.

JCC took a 1-0 lead in the 6th minute, but Dana Hansen tied the game with a goal in the 13th minute for GCC, her first of two goals in the game. Hansen gave Genesee the lead with a header that found the back of the net just five minutes later off of a corner cross from Kaitlyn Bowers before Makowski made it 3-1 with her first of three goals in the 20th minute.

Soccer earns Homecoming sweep over Erie

Homecoming weekend started off on the right note as the women’s soccer team downed visiting Erie Community College, 6-0.

Dana Hansen got the scoring underway in the 8th minute as she connected on a through ball from Rachel Oliver. The early goal by Hansen was the only goal of the half.

The Cougars caught fire in the second as they tallied five more goals from five different players. Denae McGrath, Kate Springsteen, Nicole Bramer, Karissa Schuster and Ashley Makowski all found the back of the net while Springsteen and Makowski each dished out an assist.

Women's Soccer rolls Cayuga

Nine different players scored for the Genesee Community College women's soccer team on Wednesday afternoon, en-route to a 10-0 win over Cayuga Community College.

Kate Sprinsteen got the scoring going for GCC in the 12th minute and Ashley Makowski followed with a goal less than thirty-seconds later. Dana Hansen, Karissa Schuster and Rachel Ball also beat the Lady Spartans goalkeeper during the opening period, to stake Genesee a 5-0 lead at the half.

#7 Women's Soccer wins at Corning

The no. 7 Genesee Community College women's soccer team won on the road at Corning Community College on Wednesday afternoon, 5-0. The match was a makeup from Sept. 11 when the game was postponed due to weather.

Dana Hansen scored twice and also had an assist, Denae McGrath, Ashley Makowski and Kate Sprinsteen each added a goal apiece and Kaitlyn Bowers tallied two assists. Maddie Potter made two saves in net to earn the shutout.

Genesee (3-3-1) will travel to Niagara County Community College on Saturday for a 4 p.m. start.
