Swimming and Diving: Nationals Recap

The Genesee Community College swimming and diving team concluded the 2013-14 season at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Swimming and Diving National Championships last week in Ft. Pierce, FL.
Miah Stevens earned three top-15 finishes on the women’s side for the Cougars. She swam to an 11th place finish in the 100 yard free (1:02.06), a 12th place finish in the 50 yard free (28.04) and a 13th place finish in the 200 yard free (2:17.52).

Genesee Swimming and Diving Sends Seven to National Championships

Ft. Pierce, FL is the site of this year’s National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) swimming and diving national championships and seven members of the Genesee Community College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will represent the College and compete for their chance at national titles.
Justin Popp, Randi Rudnik, Dakota Spink and Jason Williams will represent the men's team after qualifying at the Region III Championships Feb. 14-16.

Tonight's swim meet Cancelled

Tonight's Genesee Community College swimming and diving meet against Monroe Community College has been cancelled due to the weather.

Tonight's meet was to mark the last home swim of the season for Genesee. The meet will not be made up.

The Cougars will return to action on Feb. 14-16 in the Regional/District Championships.

Swimming and Diving to host Monroe on Wednesday Night

The Genesee Community College swimming and diving team will host its final meet of the season on Wednesday night when Monroe Community College visits the GCC Aquatics Center.

Genesee returns to action on Wednesday after hosting its annual "Last Chance" Invitational this past Saturday. The Cougars swam to four first-place finishes over the weekend.

Miah Stevens won the 200 yard freestyle (2:16.20) and Holly Barnes captured the 200 yard backstroke (2:32.26) to earn wins on the women's side.

Swimming and Diving off to Nationals

Housni Azelmad, Jacob Finkney, Matthew Gardner, Makato Ie, Yusuke Inami, Randi Rudnik and Luke Thomas are headed to Buffalo, NY to represent the Genesee Community College swimming and diving team at the National Championships.

The Cougars finished second at the regional/district swim meet held at Monroe Community College Feb. 15-17 and Inami was named Swimmer of the Meet, setting a meet and school record in the 200 IM.
