Genesee Earns Twenty Academic All-Region Selections

Twenty student athletes from Genesee Community College were named to the NJCAA Region III Academic All-Region List for the 2011-2012 seasons. Students honored on the NJCAA Academic All-Region List have maintained full-time enrollment and earned a grade point average of 3.5 (roughly equivalent to an A) or better.

The following Genesee student-athletes have earned Region III Academic All-Region honors.  To be recieve the honor the student-athletes must have completed a minimum 45 credit hours and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.

Swimming & Diving host Harvest Invite

The swimming and diving teams hosted five additional teams Saturday, at the annual Harvest Invitational. Participating in the meet were teams from: Alfred State College, Erie CC, Herkimer CCC, Jamestown CC, and SUNY Delhi.

The swimming and diving teams hosted five additional teams Saturday, at the annual Harvest Invitational. Participating in the meet were teams from: Alfred State College, Erie CC, Herkimer CCC, Jamestown CC, and SUNY Delhi. Herkimer took the top spot on women’s side with 252 points while Genesee finished third behind Erie with 158 points. On the men’s side Genesee finished fourth with 180 points while Alfred State won the meet with 263 points.

Swimming & Diving Splits Season Opener

The swimming and diving teams took to the water for the first time in the 2010-11 season, hosting Alfred State College. The teams split the outcome with the men defeating Alfred State 100-92, and the women falling short with a score of 87-60.

Both the men and women started the meet off with a bang winning the 200 medley relay events. The women’s relay consisted of freshman Carrie Dylag, sophomore Alysha Phillips, freshman Emily Mott and freshman Lauren Hughes. Leading the men was the freshman relay of Brady Smith, Yoshi Kuribayashi, Rob Harder, and Max Brady.

Women Finish 2nd Men 4th at Regional's

The final day of competition began with the 1,650 yard free event, in which freshman Leslie Flannery took top honors on the women's side with a time of 19:37.23. Flannery's time establishes a new school record for the event, and her 1,000 yd.

The final day of competition began with the 1,650 yard free event, in which freshman Leslie Flannery took top honors on the women’s side with a time of 19:37.23. Flannery’s time establishes a new school record for the event, and her 1,000 yd. split of 11:50.92 improves her school record in the 1,000 by nearly four seconds. For the men, freshman Eric Kowalik took second in the event with a time of 19:13.68.

Day two of the Region III/Northeast District Championships began with a fourth place finish in the women's 200 yard medley relay; the relay consisted of freshman Leslie Flannery, sophomore Katelin Adamczak, freshman Makayla Bidell, and sophomore Stephanie Mott finished with a time of 2:11.

The men’s relay composed of freshmen Adam Seweryniak, and Justin Perry, and sophomores Dustin Shepard, and Doug Nagowski took fifth with a time of 1:56.17.

Swimming & Diving Begins Regional Competition

The Swimming and Diving teams took to the water at Monroe Community College today to start the Region III/Northeast District Championships. GCC will be competing with host Monroe, Erie CC, Herkimer CCC, Alfred State College, Jamestown CC, and SUNY Delhi for the title of Region III Champion.

The Swimming and Diving teams took to the water at Monroe Community College today to start the Region III/Northeast District Championships. GCC will be competing with host Monroe, Erie CC, Herkimer CCC, Alfred State College, Jamestown CC, and SUNY Delhi for the title of Region III Champion. Additionally, the Region III schools will be competing with Borough of Manhattan CC, Fashion Institute of Technology, Suffolk CCC, and Queensborough CC for the Northeast District title.
