Men's Soccer Earns Second Seed in Regional Tournament

The Genesee Community College men’s soccer team will represent the West Region as the number two seed in this year’s Region III Division III Men’s Soccer Championships beginning Saturday, Oct. 26.
A 10-5 regular season has the Cougars behind top-seeded Herkimer County Community College in the A group of the Region III Tournament bracket. The Generals are also the number one ranked team in the country and winners of the previous two NJCAA Division III National Championships.

Men's Soccer beats Jamestown

The Genesee Community College men's soccer team played its final regular season home game on Wednesday night and beat visiting Jamestown Community College, 4-2.

Genesee led the entire way and took a lead just three-minutes into the first half when Jordan Cooper beat the JCC goalkeeper thanks to an assist from Aaron Dunks. Dunks helped Austin Richardson give GCC a two-goal advantage by setting the freshman forward up for a goal in the 35th minute and the Cougars led 2-0 at the half.

Soccer earns Homecoming sweep over Erie

Homecoming weekend started off on the right note as the women’s soccer team downed visiting Erie Community College, 6-0.

Dana Hansen got the scoring underway in the 8th minute as she connected on a through ball from Rachel Oliver. The early goal by Hansen was the only goal of the half.

The Cougars caught fire in the second as they tallied five more goals from five different players. Denae McGrath, Kate Springsteen, Nicole Bramer, Karissa Schuster and Ashley Makowski all found the back of the net while Springsteen and Makowski each dished out an assist.

Men's Soccer downs Cayuga

Jordan Cooper scored a first half hat-trick to pace the Genesee Community College men's soccer team to a 4-1 victory over Cayuga Community College on Wednesday night.

Cooper netted the first goal of the game in the 20th minute of the first half to give the Cougars the early lead. He followed with a second goal just nine-minutes later thanks to an assist from Ryan Burns. Ben Polk set Cooper up for his third goal in the 40th minute before Nathan Rose made it 4-0 after cashing in on a corner cross from Aaron Dunks with just over three-minutes left in the opening period.

Men's Soccer Opens 2013 Season Ranked No. 5

The Genesee Community College men’s soccer program will begin the 2013 season as the fifth-ranked team in the country according to the first NJCAA Division III National Poll.

The Cougars won a school record 17 games last season and held the number one national ranking in late-October. Genesee advanced to the Region III championship game where they lost to Herkimer County Community College in double-overtime. Herkimer went on to win the National Championship.

Francis Tabbed Conference Athlete of the Year

Dominic Francis, a starter at forward the past two seasons for the Genesee Community College men’s soccer team, was recently named the 2012-2013 Western New York Athletic Conference Male Athlete of the Year.
Francis set the single-season scoring mark during the 2012 season for the Cougars, netting 27 goals in 19 games. That mark was the second highest at the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III level this season.

Francis Named All-American

For the second time in two seasons, Genesee Community College men’s soccer forward Dominic Francis has been named an NJCAA All-American. He was named to the 2012 Division III All-American First Team.
A second team All-American last year as a freshman, Francis set the all-time single-season scoring record at GCC this season with 27 goals in 19 games, the second most in all of Division III men’s soccer this year. He led the Cougars to 17 wins, breaking the school record for most wins in a single season (previous mark was 16 in 2011).
