Cougars fall to Tribunes in Regional Title Game

Monroe Community College, the no. 14 team in the country, will represent Region III in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II men's basketball district tournament next weekend after the top-seed in the regional tournament knocked off third seed (no. 19 nationally ranked) Genesee Community College in the Region III title game on Sunday, 79-74.

Cougars Survive Late Scare; Advance to Regional Finals

The Genesee Community College men's basketball team will play for the Division II Region III title on Sunday for the first time since the 2002-03 season. The third-seeded Cougars knocked off no. 2 Erie Community College on Saturday afternoon in the semifinals at Monroe Community College.

Genesee grabbed an early lead after Da'Shawn Suber scored four early points to put the Cougars in front 6-4 just three minutes in. GCC kept the lead the entire half with help from Ervin Mitchell, who scored 16 first half points.

Cougars go for Regional Title this Weekend

The most successful men’s basketball season in the last ten years at Genesee Community College will continue this weekend into the Division II Region III final four hosted by top-seed Monroe Community College. The third-seeded Cougars will take on no. 2 Erie Community College on Saturday for a chance to play for the regional title on Sunday.
No. 19 nationally ranked Genesee, winners of 22 games so far this year and three in a row, will look to beat Erie for the first time in three tries this season.

Cougars Fight Past Jamestown to Regional Semi's

The third-seeded Genesee Community College men's basketball team fought its way past No. 6 Jamestown Community College on Tuesday night, downing the visiting Jayhawks 104-96 in the opening round of the Division II Region III playoffs.

JCC jumped out to an early 6-2 lead but the Cougars ran off eleven straight points to take the lead, one which they would not give up the rest of the night.

The Jayhawks stayed close however and were within two at 42-40 with 2:30 remaining in the first half.

Cougars host Jamestown in Region III First Round

The Genesee Community College men’s basketball team will host Jamestown Community College in the opening round of the Division II Region III playoffs on Tuesday night and the third-seeded Cougars will look to advance past the sixth-seeded Jayhawks to the semi-finals this weekend for the first time in two seasons.
Genesee (21-7, 6-4) has won six out of its last seven and will face the Jayhawks for the third time this season.
Jamestown (7-17, 0-10) has fallen in eight straight games and went winless in Western New York Athletic Conference play during the regular season.

Cougars Host Tribunes in Regular Season Finale

While it may not be the final time the Genesee Community College men’s basketball team appears at home this season, Thursday night will mark the last regular season home game of the year for the Cougars. GCC will host #10 Monroe Community College for an 8 p.m. start in what it hopes will be a “white-out” atmosphere.
Genesee (20-7, 5-4) is currently third in the Western New York Athletic Conference standings with a 5-4 record.

Cougars Looking to 'White Out' Last Regular Season Game

The Genesee Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams will welcome Monroe Community College to the Anthony T. Zambito Gymnasium for a “white out” on Thursday night, with the women tipping off at 6 p.m. and the men to follow at 8 p.m.
All fans are encouraged to wear white to the games, which are the last regular season games of the year for both teams.
The GCC women (5-20, 0-8) will try for their first conference win of the year and the men (20-7, 5-4) will try to add to their highest win total since the 2003-04 season.

Men's Basketball Closes Road-Stand at Jamestown on Thursday

The Cougars will end a three game road stretch on Thursday night at Jamestown Community College and try for their 20th win of the season after being denied it in their first chance on Tuesday night.
Genesee (19-7, 4-4) is currently 4th in the Western New York Athletic Conference standings and 5-5 in its last 10 contests.
Jamestown (7-14, 0-7) is still in search of its first conference win and the Jayhawks lost the only game they’ve played since losing at GCC on Feb. 1.

Cougars Denied 20th win, fall to Erie

The Genesee Community College men's basketball team gave up a 17-7 run to start the second half to Erie Community College on Tuesday night, and could not recover falling on the road by a final score of 98-89.

Naquil Jones scored a team high 24 points for the Cougars, who were out-rebounded 58-37 on the night including 25 offensive rebounds for the Kats.

After going into the half tied at 41, Genesee trailed by as much as 12 in the second.
